During laser hair removal, a laser emits a light which is filtered. This filtered light is then absorbed by the pigment (melanin) in the hair. The light energy is converted to heat. This heat coagulates or damages the tube-shaped sacs and the capillaries that supply the hair with oxygen and nutrients. This damage inhibits future hair growth.
